Classic Car Mechanic / Workshop Manager

£35,000 £45,000 per year, depending on experience

Our client is a growing classic vehicle business combining restoration, a specialist mechanical workshop and body shop, showroom and sales area, events and a future café and visitor experience.

We are looking for an experienced Classic Car Mechanic / Workshop Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the workshop and play an important role in developing the wider business.

This is a hands-on position for someone who is not only an excellent mechanic, but who can work independently, use initiative, manage projects and help build the business as it grows.

Classic Car Mechanic - The Role

Classic vehicle restoration, servicing and mechanical repairs
Vehicle strip-down, rebuild and fault findingA
Engine, gearbox, suspension and braking work
Working alongside the body shop and restoration team
Managing workshop projects and prioritising workload
Ordering parts and dealing with suppliers
Maintaining high standards of workmanship and presentation
Training and supporting apprentices and developing junior staff
Helping develop workshop systems and processes
Supporting classic car events and activities
Supporting the showroom and sales area when required
Helping deliver an excellent customer and visitor experience
Playing a key role in the development of our future café, events and visitor experience

Classic Car Mechanic - The Person

Minimum 5 years' experience in classic cars, restoration or specialist automotive work
Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills
High standards of workmanship and attention to detail
Able to work independently and take responsibility
Good organisational and project management skills
Commercially aware with a positive, practical approach
Good communication and customer service skills
Experience supervising or training of apprentices
Full UK driving licence
Additional experience in welding, fabrication or auto-electrics would be advantageous.
