Temporary Director of Operations - Part-Time

Location: Esher, Surrey - primarily on-site with occasional home working
Hours: 16 to 20 hours per week
Pay: £21.00 per hour (inc.holiday pay)
Contract: Temporary, approximately 2-3 months
Start date: Late August 2026

The opportunity

Our client operates a thriving, professional healthcare hub in the heart of Esher, providing high-quality consultation space and support services to a carefully selected community of healthcare practitioners.

They are seeking an experienced and highly organised Temporary Director of Operations, whilst recruiting for a permanent candidate, to oversee the smooth day-to-day running of the centre. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership, managing people and ensuring that every detail is handled properly.

The position is primarily based at the Esher premises, with some flexibility to work from home where appropriate. The successful candidate will also need to provide occasional staff cover and be willing to respond to urgent operational calls outside normal working hours when required.

Key responsibilities

Overseeing the centres day-to-day operations
Managing and supporting the Front of House team
Preparing staff rotas and responding to last-minute staffing changes
Ensuring practitioners, patients and visitors receive a consistently warm and professional service
Maintaining a safe, welcoming and well-organised working environment
Monitoring established operational processes and ensuring they are followed accurately
Resolving day-to-day operational issues calmly and efficiently
Identifying opportunities to improve procedures and service standards
Building positive working relationships with healthcare practitioners and other stakeholders
Providing occasional reception or operational cover when required

About you

This role would suit an experienced operations professional who has worked in a corporate, healthcare, hospitality, education or similarly service-focused environment.

You will need:

Proven experience managing or supervising a small team
Confidence arranging rotas and managing unexpected staffing issues
An organised, meticulous and detail-focused approach
The ability to remain calm and level-headed when problems arise
A genuine commitment to delivering excellent customer service
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
The confidence to build effective relationships with a wide range of people
The ability to work independently and take ownership of operational responsibilities
The flexibility to balance on-site duties with occasional remote working
Availability to begin the assignment in late August
