Job Overview

We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Operations Assistant to support our operations team. This is an entry-level "all-rounder" role focused on supporting the daily flow of goods while learning core logistics processes.

Operations Assistant - Job Summary

To assist in the efficient day-to-day operation of the stores 3 days per week, including receiving, storing, and dispatching goods.

This is a hands-on role requiring physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to workplace safety.

Operations Assistant - Key Responsibilities

Goods Inwards: Assist in unloading deliveries and checking items against delivery notes to ensure accuracy in quantity and quality.
Order Fulfilment: Accurately pick products from designated locations and pack them securely for customer dispatch.
Inventory Control: Help with stock takes and update digital records using handheld scanners or basic computer systems.
Stock Maintenance: Move and store materials safely in their correct locations, ensuring efficient use of space and clear labelling.
Warehouse Upkeep: Maintain a clean and hazard-free environment by clearing debris, organizing packing materials, and following Health & Safety protocols.
Loading/Unloading: Assist in loading outbound vehicles and securing pallets using wrapping or strapping equipment.

Operations Assistant - Required Skills & Qualifications

Physical Fitness: Ability to safely lift/move heavy items according to Manual Handling guidelines.
Communication: Strong verbal skills to work effectively within a team and take instructions from supervisors.
Organisation: High attention to detail to prevent errors in order picking or stock counting.
Technical Skills: Basic IT literacy for using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or mobile devices.
Attitude: A "can-do" approach, punctuality, and a willingness to learn new skills.

Operations Assistant - Duties

Managing and maintaining accurate data entry across various platforms
Assisting with administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, and document preparation
Handling incoming calls, when necessary, with professionalism and courtesy, directing enquiries appropriately
Supporting the team with correspondence, email management, and follow-up communications
Performing general clerical duties to support daily office operations and ensure efficiency

Experience

Previous experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided
Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic data entry skills
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
Ability to work independently while supporting team objectives
