Fashion Design & Textiles Technician

Fashion Design and Textiles is a new subject to the School which encourages students to be innovative and creative, exploring ideas through hand and digital skills. Pupils will have the opportunity to learn key skills in pattern cutting, drawing, and sampling through contemporary techniques and applying these skills to their own ideas.

Charterhouse is seeking to employ an enthusiastic, hardworking and creative individual to support the smooth running of the Fashion Design & Textiles lessons by preparing materials and maintaining equipment/tools to ensure the teaching and learning environment is safe, clean and well resourced.

The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in a comparable role and a good level of understanding of fashion design and textiles, and different areas within the subject. A specific understanding of sewing machines and screen-printing is an essential requirement for this role as is the knowledge of textiles and fashion design tools and the ability to instruct pupils on the correct use of these.

This is a part-time role, 22.5 hours per week during term time (32 weeks of the year) plus additional 67.5 hours (equivalent of three additional working weeks) to be worked outside of the academic year or occasional weekend and/or evening work during term time to staff workshops and events.

Salary £11,996 per annum (FTE £27,664)

Holiday 5 weeks holiday plus 8 statutory bank holidays. It may not be possible to take public holidays during term-time, and time off will be given in lieu.
