Hoe Bridge School is a thriving co-educational prep school for girls and boys aged between 3 & 13. It is set in a perfect location just on the outskirts of Woking surrounded by 22 acres of beautiful grounds and is only 25 minutes from central London.

The School is seeking to appoint a Caretaker as part of the Facilities Team. This is a vital role within the Team and is instrumental in providing support to ensure that day-to-day school operations run smoothly and effectively for all staff, pupils, parents and visitors. The Team also ensures that health & safety procedures are adhered to and that the appearance and security of the school buildings, grounds and facilities are maintained to an excellent standard at all times. The post holder is part of the Facilities Team and is accountable to the Facilities Manager.
SALARY & WORKING HOURS
The salary will be £25,000 pa increasing to £28,000 pa after the first year. Dependent children, whom the successful candidate wishes to attend the School, will be subject to the normal admissions criteria. Once admitted, they will be eligible for the discretionary teaching staff concession on school fees.
HOURS OF WORK
Term Time - 34 weeks Monday to Friday 7.00 am to 5.00 pm (45 hours per week, excluding one hour lunch break). Two paid breaks of 15 minutes each day.
School Holidays - 18 weeks Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 3.00 pm (30 hours per week, excluding one hour for lunch break). Two paid breaks of 15 minutes each day.
Assistance will also be required at specific weekend school events, for which overtime is paid. These will include Fete Day, Colour Run, Fireworks Night, Christmas Fair and some weekend events.

Working to a routine and regular preventative maintenance schedule to ensure that the school buildings and facilities are correctly maintained
Reporting ongoing maintenance issues to the Facilities Manager to ensure an accurate and planned maintenance programme is maintained
Carrying out maintenance tasks as directed
Ensuring routine health and safety checks are undertaken for compliancy, to include fire alarm, emergency lighting, water testing and sanitisation and fire safety checks
Maintain accurate and timely record keeping of health and safety checks for countersigning by the Facilities Manager
General caretaking duties to ensure the effective running of the school day including emergency cleaning
Liaising with the Facilities Manager to arrange for the purchase of supplies and services needed, helping to ensure resources are managed within budget constraints
Ensuring that the minibus fleet is managed, to include routine maintenance, interior and exterior cleaning and refuelling
Drive a school minibus, either with or without passengers, if required. Any necessary training will be provided
Operating the swimming pool to provide correct quality of water and safe environment for pool use, ensuring sufficient supplies of products to maintain water quality. Working with other members of the Facilities Team to ensure the water quality is maintained
Working with the Facilities Team to ensure all equipment is maintained correctly
The portering of equipment, furniture and items as required for school events
The supervision of deliveries
General maintenance and painting as directed
Low level gutter clearing
The erecting of staging and the building of stage sets
Emptying nappy bins as required
Ensure that the correct equipment is used at all times and ensuring that equipment is safe to use
Attending training courses for health and safety when required
Continual observation of security of site to ensure minimal risk to the community and buildings
Assisting the Facilities Team on setting up and management of school events when required
To deal with Health & Safety issues promptly and appropriately
Review of work-based risk assessments with the Facilities Manager on an annual basis
The Facilities Manager supports the Facilities and IT Team and communication is vital to ensure that the school has well planned maintenance and development programmes. The Team meets weekly with the Facilities Manager. Daily issues are communicated via email to the Facilities Manager.
Members of the Team are required to have a can do attitude and be flexible in their work to support
the changing priorities that occur within the working hours.
All staff need to work to the Schools risk assessment standard, ensuring that health and safety procedures are adhered to. Correct equipment must be used at all times, with checks to ensure that it is safe to use. A full understanding of the Schools Health & Safety Policy is essential.
Two-way radios are supplied and are an essential part of communication and safety.
They are carried at all times and be used courteously and professionally in line with the schools Lone Working policy procedure.
