PA to Head - 6 month contract to start with, potential temp to perm

Rate c£16.00 pr hour

Hours 8 - 4pm, term time but with flexibility for additional hours during holidays.

This is a challenging role at the very heart of a busy school; for the right candidate, it will be an extremely rewarding position.

As PA to the Head , you will ensure that the school runs smoothly and successfully on a day to day basis.

This role is complex and demanding, requiring great skill and dexterity at many levels: managing relationships, information and communication between the Headmistress, the Bursar, the other members of SMT, Governors, staff and parents . At all times you will be an excellent ambassador for the school and someone who provides and promotes outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities and Duties

The overarching responsibility of the role is the provision of efficient and professional administrative support to the Head and the Bursar.

Duties will be many and varied and the tasks listed below are therefore illustrative only:

To act as first point of contact for the Head in dealing with communications from and to parents, pupils, staff, visitors and other organisations.

You will be responsible for redirecting queries appropriately, recommending and/or taking action where appropriate, particularly in urgent matters, and resolving queries and ensuring appropriate action and follow-up

Managing communications to and from parents on behalf of the Bursar (to include communications in respect of fees, terms and conditions and management of the bursary process)
Proactive management of the diary of the Head and that of the Bursar
Preparing and circulating agendas, papers and minutes for meetings chaired by the Head, to include SMT and Staff Meetings, and meetings chaired by the Bursar
Acting as minute taker at Governors meetings and Academic sub-committee meetings
Organisation and management of key school events (for example, Speech Day)
Providing administrative support in compliance-related matters; for example, inspection requirements (including policies and handbooks), safeguarding and staff recruitment, Health & Safety, company law requirements and Charity Commission returns
To work closely with other administrative staff at the school (including the School Office and the Bursary) to ensure that first-class administrative support is provided
Extensive range of other administrative tasks as required by the Head or the Bursar

Prior experience of working for a senior team in education or the corporate world (for example, as PA to the CEO, the CFO or a board level executive).

Ideally educated to degree level, but certainly to A level.

Advanced literacy, good numeracy and excellent IT skills are essential as well as proven experience in managing and prioritising a varied and flexible workload and dealing with sensitive, confidential material.
